We have added this page to help our Customers with any unfamiliar terms of one of our Auctions or proceedures.
Please be aware that other Auction Houses may have their own terms.
Bid Numbers are given to prospective Buyers at an Auction.
These are displayed on Paddles.
Commission is the percentage of a final sale price the Auction House charge to both the Buyer and Seller for the service we offer.
Buyers and Sellers commissions are set at 15% of the final sale price.
Our Customer Database is a secure record of our Aution customers details which we retain for purposes required by law. We do not require these details if you only buy out of Auction.
We only record the details required on our Registration Form.
These records are protected and are never sold, given or rented to any 3rd Party.
If an illegal or stolen item is brought for sale we are obliged by law to inform the relevant authorities.
If you require your information is removed from our Customer Database, for whatever reason, please contact us and we will remove all records accordingly.
Guide Prices are published in our Listing Catalogues.
These are estimated values for Lots. They are published in good faith to illustrate the possible sales price expected.
Hammer Price is the name given to the final winning sale price on a Lot in Auction.
Once the Hammer/Gavel has fallen, the Auctioneer has closed the Lot and the Buyer is legally obliged to pay for the item plus commision and IVA at this price. The responsibility for any items become the Buyers on the fall of the Hammer.
The final Hammer Price is declared by the Auctioneer once the Lot has been closed. As our Auctions are Public Sales we are required to do so by law.
Last-Stop Shop is the name we give to the area of our business which sells items that have already appeared in two consectutive Auctions but remain unsold.
These items are for sale at a set price which includes IVA.
The price is reduced by atleast 10% every week until an item is sold or disposed of.
Listing Cataloguesare produced for each Auction.
They can be downloaded off our website or purchased at the Auction House for 1€ the day before an Auction.
The Listing Catalogue is the official publication of an Auction showing Lot numbers, a brief description of said Lots and a Guide Price.
We publish both an English and Spanish version.
Listing Fees are administration fees charged to sellers at a rate of 1€ (IVA inclusive) per Lot per Auction.
Lot Numbers are given to an item which is for sale in an Auction.
Paddles are given to prospective Buyers at the Auction, showing a number.
The number is known as the Bidding Number or Paddle Number.
Without a Paddle or Bid Number you are unable to bid at an Auction.
A Proxy Bid is a confidential bid you can leave with a memeber of staff before an Auction begins. Be doing so, you are showing your intention to bid for an item without necessarily being present at the sale.
You will be issued a Bid Number, the Auctioneer will then make the Bid on your behalf.
If you leave a Proxy Bid for 10€
The Lot is due to open at 2€, you will hold the bid at 2€.
The Auctioneer will therefore offer the Lot to the Auction House at 4€.
If no other Bids are received you will successfully win the Lot at the opening 2€ plus commission and IVA.
However, if you are Bid against, you are allowing the Auctioneer to Bid up to and including your specified amount (in this case 10€), so you may secure the Lot at a lot less!
Proxy Bids will only be accepted if they are within the published Guide Prices.
Reserve Fees are charged to Sellers at a rate of 3€ (IVA inclusive) per Lot per Auction if the Seller wishes to place a Reserve Price on a Lot.
These are ONLY charged if a Lot fails to sell in an Auction.
This is a minimum price the Auctioneer is instructed to open a Lot in Auction.
A Reserve Price is confidential, it can not and will not be disclosed.
Registration Forms are legally required to be completed by all participating in our Auction.
You only need to do this once, as we keep your details in our Customer Database.
Sellers Forms are contractual. They indicate the right to the Auctioneer to place an item for Public Sale by the owner.
The forms carry basic details of items for sale including any specified prices the owner wishes to sell an item for.
They specify which Auctions your items will appear in, dates you get paid for any sales and a collection date if your items fail to sell.
Shill Bidding is when a Seller bids on his or her own Lot/s to increase the hammer price or to outbid another Buyer to forfeit any sale/s.
We do not approve or allow this practice at Andalucian Auctions.
Shop Floor is the name we give to items which are on general sale in between Auctions, all prices are fixed and include IVA.
An item may never reach an Auction if it sells off the Shop Floor.
Alternatively an item is available for general sale before it becomes entered into a second and final Auction.
No items from the Shop Floor are available to purchase on Viewing Days or once they have been allocated a Lot Number.
Viewing Day is a day the Auction House is open to the public so that they may inspect Lots which are for sale at Auction.
Proxy Bids may be left on Viewing Day.
Only items in our Last-Stop Shop may be purchased on a Viewing Day.
Our Viewing Day is the Friday before an Auction.
Our Wish List is a free service we offer to clients who may be seeking a particular item they require.
Withdrawn Lot refers to an item which has been published in the Listing Catalogue for Auction however, either the Seller or Auctioneer has requested the item not to be sold. The reason for Withdrawing a Lot from Auction can be confidential.
If a Seller withdraws a Lot, Listing and Reserve Fees are chargable.
